First of all, I’d like to say the majority of these recipes will be adapted from various cookbooks, videos, and family members. I don’t claim to be a pro. And will be linking all the available original recipes :).
Second of all, this is so exciting *in my best Phoebe Buffay voice*.
This is one of my favorite weekend brunch recipes & my most requested recipe to share. I even went through a phase where I made a dutchbaby every. single. Sunday.
This recipe is adapted from Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook, “Cravings“, and you should probably just go and buy it right now.
What you’ll need:
- 1 c. flour
- 1 c. milk
- 4 eggs (I’ve also used just 3 and it turned out just fine)
- pinch of salt
- 4 tbsp, salted butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- fruit (of your choice.. I love berries of any kind but apples are also delish)
- dash of cinnamon
- maple syrup
- powdered sugar
What you’ll do:
- Preheat oven to 475 degrees
- Mix flour, milk, eggs, salt, 2 tbsp. butter (melted), & vanilla in a blender until smooth.
- Heat your skillet on the stove top (iron skillets work the best for this, and let’s be honest, you really just need an iron skillet anyways, so go buy one.. you can thank me later) . Add the 2 tbsp. butter left until melted.
- Pour the batter mixture into the heavenly golden pool of butter, top with whatever fruit you’ve chosen (or not. that works too), and sprinkle the cinnamon over top.
- Stick in the oven for about 20 – 30 minutes, checking every 5 minutes or so once you’ve passed 20 minutes. (You don’t want your baby to burn, do you?)
- Sprinkle powdered sugar on, & serve with more butter and maple syrup. *drooling*
*Note*: I’ve used both salted & unsalted butter for this recipe, but we’ve decided we prefer the salt. It really makes for the perfect balance of sweet & salty.
Also. The dutchbaby is going to rise so much in the oven you’ll think you did something wrong. No worries! That’s what it’s supposed to do, and will deflate almost immediately after being removed from the oven.
Enjoy!
I can’t wait to try this and lots of your delish looking recipes!!
